Wilhelm Sasnal - Gaddafi

this is one of a series of three by the painter and filmmaker Wilhelm Sasnal. This gives a haunting sense of perspective and context to the scene depicted. a very interesting way of depicting an event, especially one such as a death. The pieces stand strong alone two, even out of context. I chose this one the most as ii like the mystery of what they are looking at and filming (if you haven't seen the other two pieces). this cropping the body out leaves questions unanswered. the fact the men are sillouhettes is also interesting, adding another layer of mystery. - haunting. the light in the painting offers the detail and definition in the figures, rather than the shadow doing so. I noticed this whilst sketching the piece
